Bible study
Jesus was the most important man ever to live on earth. It makes sense that events of his life were recorded by many people. Also makes sense that the Holy Spirit inspired multiple authors to record what they saw of Jesus , as it says in Deuteronomy 19;15 "A matter must be established by the testimony of 2 or 3 witnesses." Assign to historical records of Jesus life, each of the 4 books of the new Testament Matthew , Mark , Luke and John views Jesus and his actions through different eyes.Matthew was written mostly for Jewish audience , so it represents Jesus as the Messiah.Mark was written for gentiles ( Roman citizens ).Luke was written after a great deal of research and focuses on Jesus as the perfect man.John was written to Christians beginning to undergo persecution . Part of the differences in these books is that they were written by different people. They were all inspired by the Holy Spirit , but he chose to work within the different personalities of the authors. The book of Mark was written first. This gave Matthew and Luke when recording the same events to give more information in lots of places. Because the authors had the benefit of reading the book of Mark , they filled in some of the gaps.
